Where do the extra leaves go when the table isn't extended?

They live inside the table on most of our extending designs. Some slide out from beneath the tabletop on runners, others fold and rest in the centre of the frame until you open it up. Either way there's no separate panel to store in a cupboard or under a bed. The product listing confirms which system each table uses.

How much extra length does a white extending dining table add?

It varies by design. Our smaller rectangular tables add roughly one extra place at each end, taking a comfortable 4 seats up to 6. Larger gloss designs add around 40cm, going from 160cm to 2m and turning 6 seats into 8. Exact closed and extended measurements are listed on every product page.

Can I leave a white extending dining table extended all the time?

Absolutely. The mechanism is built to hold at full length, so there's nothing to gain by closing it between meals. Plenty of people keep theirs open throughout December and closed the rest of the year. On white tops the joins barely show, so an extended table never looks like it's waiting to be put away.

Do fingerprints show on a white gloss tabletop?

They can, as they do on any high-shine surface, and they're most obvious in low evening light. A dry microfibre cloth takes them off in seconds. Painted and whitewashed wood tops hide them best, with gloss and glass behaving much the same. For a busy family kitchen, a matt wood finish is the lower maintenance option.

What's the difference between a white glass top and a white gloss top?

A glass top is tempered safety glass with a white backing, so the colour has real depth and the surface resists scratches and chips well. A gloss top is a lacquered board finish, which reads slightly warmer and more solid in a room. Both wipe clean with a damp cloth. Glass usually looks the lighter of the two.

Can one person extend the table on their own?

Usually, yes. Sliding designs open using a handle at each end and take about a minute with two hands. Larger tables with a folding centre leaf are easier with two people, mainly because of the weight of the top rather than the mechanism itself. Clear the table first, tablecloth included, so nothing snags as the panels move.
